Happy 100th Birthday!!!

That’s right!  My grandma turns 100 years young today!  She is the sweetest grandma anyone could ask for.  She never met a stranger and I can only pray that I am half the kind, faithful, lovely woman that she is (along with a whole list of accolades).    So, such a special lady deserves a very special card.

I toiled over this one.  I guess just because it is for my grandmother.  You see, grandma’s eyesight isn’t what it used to be.  She can see the sparkles and I’m hoping that the bold, bright colors will stand out for her.  There’s no better time to make an easel card!  This is the first I have made.  I followed these directions found on Splitcoast Stampers, Easel Card.  I made mine a 6” x 6”…simply because that is the largest envelope I have and I wanted this 100_9983card big.  Let’s face it, this is a BIG deal!    The sentiment is from the Sale-A-Bration set, Whimsical Words.  “The more candles the bigger the wish!”  I knew the first time I saw it that I had to use it on grandma’s card! The candles are each textured through the Big Shot.  I thought that if grandma couldn’t see it, she can feel it!  The flames are Summer Sun card stock, hand cut and colored with some Only Orange to add some depth.  I covered each one with 2-Way Glue and Dazzling Diamonds glitter and then covered the entire flame with 100_9978Crystal Effects.  I think the CE makes the flames pop and the sparkles are, in a way, magnified.  Very cool effect!

Of course, Basic Black and Whisper White look great along with the bright colors of Only Orange, Tempting Turquoise, Green Galore, Passion Pink, YoYo Yellow and the retired Pacific Point.  (Funny, I never used 100_9981that color when it was in the catalog.)  The Scallop Square is Sizzix BigZ Clear Large Scallop Sq.

Here is a look at the inside.  There is plenty of room for a special note and signatures.

Here’s to grandma!  Happy Birthday!  Yes, we are celebrating!  Gran would never go without cake and ice cream!  And the entire family will be there to help her enjoy it! (huge smile!)

Thanks for letting me share with you!  I hope you’ll be inspired to create a BIG, BOLD and BRIGHT card!
